Labor
Work is a Godly attribute:
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. (Genesis 2:2.)
And God gave man work to do:
The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (Genesis 2:15)
Work can be done alone, but it's often better to have someone to work with:
The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." (Genesis 2:18)
Work can be to achieve a human goal:
Jacob was in love with Rachel and said, "I'll work for you seven years in return for your younger daughter Rachel." (Genesis 29:18)
And work can be examined and appreciated:
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. (Psalm 19:1)
Work is good for the soul, for the mind, for the pocketbook. Unfortunately, too many people are out of work right now as our current president and the politicans in office do what government does best: get in the way.
2010 marks the First Labor day where the majority of union members work for the government. I don't think this is a good thing, considering how much the Democrats are in bed with the unions. Yeah, I know, Republicans are supposed to be in bed with business. They're supposed to be, but I see little proof. At this juncture, most of the bail-outs and favors seem to be going to business as much as labor, and it's from the Democrats in power.
What was it Dennis Prager said, "There are two parties, the Corrupt Party and the Stupid Party and I belong to the Stupid Party." Perhaps, but George W. Bush led to Barack Obama as painfully as Herbert Hoover led to FDR.
